Certificate of Clearance

Information on obtaining a Certificate of Clearance (COC).

From 6 January 2025, the application for a COC will be fully digitalised. Successful applicants will receive a digital COC instead of a physical hardcopy.

The Certificate of Clearance (COC) is issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to certify that the named person has no criminal conviction in Singapore. Applicants must show documentary proof from the relevant government authority that a COC is required (e.g. for marriage, employment, migration etc.). More information can be obtained from the SPF website at https://www.police.gov.sg.

Documents required for application

  1. Scanned documentary proof indicating that a COC is required and for what purpose.

  2. Scanned biometric page of applicant’s valid passport

  3. Scanned Identification Document (ID), front and back

  4. Scanned or digital passport-size photograph

  5. Valid Credit/Debit card to make online payment

  6. Original hardcopy of fingerprint impressions (for non-Singapore Citizens residing overseas)* 

*W.e.f. 16 May 2024, Non-Singapore Citizens applicants are no longer required to submit an Appeal to Apply for a COC. Overseas applicants can get their fingerprint impressions taken by a qualified fingerprint officer from a police establishment or an authorised office such as notary public or embassies.

*The following documents are required for fingerprint impressions to be taken at the Singapore Embassy. Please make an appointment before visiting the Embassy.
